Curiosity

This year our students are leading their learning through their own passions and interests.

Students are thinking deeply about themselves and things that make them question the world around them. The are forming big questions and then researching, planning, developing and modifying ideas to share with our community. This year students are planning the amount of time they require for each curious journey they wish to take.

Learning is completely student driven, engaging, purposeful and innovative. The learning is integrated so that it is authentic and within real life contexts.

We also have exciting partnerships with Enviro Schools, Hokonui Runanga, Creatives in Schools, Sherwood Forest, Field Based STEM, The Wonder Project, You Plan It, Makarewa Catchment Group, AB Lime and many other local businesses and groups.

We are in the middle of a two year study at Sherwood Forest. Last year we investigated the biodiversity at the forest with so many incredible local, national and international experts. This year we are moving towards regeneration. The students are engaged and committed.

Sustainability

Students are researching, planning, developing and modifying business ideas. They are learning through the design process to create needs or wants. Their learning is student driven, engaging, purposeful and innovative. The students  learning is integrated so that it is authentic and within real life contexts.

Hedgehope School  won Air New Zealand’s Airpoints for Schools Program in 2018 and took the whole school to Auckland and The Waitangi Treaty grounds for a week.
